Begonias

Begonias

Nothing to say right now, just a few photos of my begonias.  These are all hybrid seedlings from my breeding program, rapidly outgrowing their space under the lights indoors and needing to go out in the garden very soon.  I really like a couple of them, but will any of them prove to be hardy?  Only time will tell!  Click on the photos to go to zoomable originals in Flickr.

  2. These look fantastic. I would much rather have these than coleus in my shady areas. This, and other blogger, encourages me to think about hybrid breeding -- maybe daylilies?

  3. Very interested in your attempted to breed begonia that whilst being hardy enough to withstand Washington DC winters don't collapse in your summer heat and humidity.

My conditions here in manchester, England are completely different and our problem is mild wet winters and cool summers.

Would be interested to compare attempts to grow 'hardy' begonia and gesnerids.

  4. Beautiful post! Your passion for begonias really shines through, and the photos are stunning—it's inspiring to see how much care goes into cultivating such vibrant plants. If anyone's looking to create a secure and beautiful outdoor garden space in the Baltimore area, I highly recommend this team for fence installation in Baltimore: https://www.fenceanddeckconnection.com/fencing-baltimore-county/. A well-installed fence not only protects your plants but also enhances the overall landscape!
